Cotton/PolyCotton
The same care instructions apply to pure cotton fabrics
Washing:
- Turn it inside out: Washing your garment inside out helps protect the black or colour from fading due to sun exposure during drying. Wether it is a blank top or top with embellishment
- Cold water: Use cold water for washing. Hot water can shrink the cotton and potentially damage the fabric.
- Gentle cycle: Opt for the gentle cycle on your washing machine. This reduces the amount of agitation the garment experiences, minimizing wear and tear.
Recommended heat for washing machine a warm 104°F (40°C) or below
- Mild detergent: Use a mild detergent that is free of harsh chemicals or bleach. These can also fade the color and damage the cotton fibers.
- Minimize washing: Wash your garment only when necessary. Excessive washing can contribute to fading and wear. Spot cleaning small stains can help extend the time between washes.
Drying:
- Air dry: Whenever possible, air dry your garment. This is the gentlest way to dry cotton and helps prevent shrinkage. Hang it on a clothesline or drying rack away from direct sunlight.
- Low heat tumble dry (if needed): If you must use a dryer, use the low heat setting. High heat can shrink the cotton and damage the fabric.Recommended heat for tumble drying a warm cycle of 104°F (40°C) or below.
Storage:
- Fold neatly: Fold your garment neatly instead of hanging it. Hanging can stretch the neckline over time.
- Cool, dry place: Store your tee in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Sunlight can contribute to fading.
Additional tips:
- Ironing: If you need to iron your garment, use a cool iron setting and iron it inside out. Wether it is a blank top or top with embellishment
Plain cotton tee:
Medium heat setting: This is typically around 300°F (149°C) on most irons. It's effective for wrinkles on most cotton fabrics without risking damage.
Cotton garments with embellishments:
- Low heat setting: This is usually around 250°F (121°C) on most irons. Using a lower heat setting helps protect the embellishments from melting or scorching.
- Minimize snags: Be careful of rough surfaces or sharp objects that could snag the cotton fibers. Example: laying your back to a brick wall for example.
- Spot cleaning: Address small stains with a damp cloth and mild detergent instead of a full wash whenever possible.Spot cleaning: Address small stains with a damp cloth and mild detergent instead of a full wash whenever possible.
